Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in hospitality, shaping both how hotels operate and the choices that make up the guest experience.<\/p>\n

According to Booking.com’s Sustainable Travel Report 2025<\/strong>, 84% of travelers consider it important to travel more sustainably. This trend now shows up across many aspects of the hotel experience, from resource management and purchasing to the everyday amenities in the room.<\/p>\n

In this context, hotel amenities<\/strong> deserve particular attention. Toiletries, slippers, dental kits and accessories are used every day in a hotel, which makes the choice of their materials and packaging part of a broader approach to sustainability.<\/p>\n

So the question is not whether amenities still have a place in modern hospitality, but by what criteria they can be chosen more consciously<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Sustainability starts with the choice<\/h2>\n

No single feature makes a hotel amenity sustainable. Material, packaging, origin and production method are all factors that can be weighed before choosing a product.<\/p>\n

For a hotelier, this means it is worth looking at what lies behind the finished product. What is it made of? Does it include recycled raw materials? Can its packaging be recycled? Is there an alternative material that serves the same need?<\/p>\n

That way, choosing an amenity is based not only on its appearance and function, but on a more complete assessment of its characteristics.<\/p>\n

New materials in hotel amenities<\/h2>\n

Advances in materials have greatly expanded the options available in hotel amenities.<\/p>\n

Wheat straw, corn starch, wood, linen and cotton<\/strong> now appear in many everyday products, from toothbrushes and razors to shower caps, combs and slippers.<\/p>\n

In the Stony Collection<\/a> by Ogigis<\/strong>, for example, alternative materials are used in personal care items, such as a wheat straw razor and a corn starch shower cap.<\/p>\n

Similarly, one of the most established in-room amenities, the hotel slipper<\/a>, is available in linen and cotton<\/strong>, options that fit naturally into different hospitality concepts.<\/p>\n

Packaging as part of the product<\/h2>\n

In hotel amenities, packaging is not only about presentation. The material it is made from and whether it can be recycled are also worth taking into account.<\/p>\n

A typical example is R-PET<\/strong>, which is made from recycled PET and uses existing plastic as its raw material. Paper and other recyclable packaging further widen the options, depending on the requirements of each product.<\/p>\n

The assessment can therefore cover both the amenity itself and the way it is packaged and presented to the guest.<\/p>\n

Sustainability consistent with the hotel’s identity<\/h2>\n

Every property has a different character, audience and philosophy. The same is true of how it approaches sustainability.<\/p>\n

A resort with a strong connection to its natural surroundings may choose amenities with natural textures and materials. A boutique hotel may prefer simple packaging and thoughtful details that match its design identity.<\/p>\n

The goal is for these choices to fit naturally into the overall experience and meet the real needs of the property and its guests.<\/p>\n

More conscious choices for modern hospitality<\/h2>\n

A hotel’s sustainability is not defined by one product or a single change. It takes shape gradually through decisions across different parts of daily operations.<\/p>\n

Hotel amenities are one of them.<\/p>\n

For the hotelier, the goal is not simply to look for a product labeled “eco”. It is to know what they are choosing, what it is made of, how it is packaged and how it fits the philosophy of their property<\/strong>.
