A hotel experience begins at check-in<\/strong>, but its review is often written after check-out<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Between those two moments, the guest gradually forms an impression of the property. They notice the cleanliness, the comfort of the bed, the bathroom, the quality of the products they use, the condition of the equipment and, ultimately, whether what they found lived up to the expectations they had before arriving.<\/p>\n

These details also matter a great deal for a hotel’s online image<\/strong>. Tripadvisor research has shown that 81% of respondents always or frequently read reviews before booking accommodation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

One guest’s experience can therefore become part of the next guest’s decision.<\/p>\n

The room is at the center of the experience<\/h2>\n

Service can be excellent and the location ideal, but the room remains the space where the guest spends a large part of their stay.<\/p>\n

The data confirm its importance. In the J.D. Power 2025 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index<\/strong>, higher satisfaction with room condition and cleanliness, as well as with in-room amenities<\/strong>, was among the factors that improved guests’ perception of the value of their stay.<\/p>\n

These do not have to be spectacular amenities. A perfectly prepared bathroom, quality hotel slippers, well-kept linens or a complete toiletry range<\/strong> can make a real contribution to the overall sense of quality.<\/p>\n

Amenities are small but repeated touchpoints<\/h2>\n

Hotel amenities<\/strong> have one important feature: guests don’t just see them. They use them.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The shampoo<\/a> in the shower, the body lotion<\/a>, the dental kit<\/a> they needed because they forgot their toothbrush, or the slippers<\/a> they put on when they came back to the room are small moments within the whole stay.<\/p>\n

Their quality, functionality and presentation<\/strong> affect how the space is perceived and, above all, the sense of care the guest takes away.<\/p>\n

That is why choosing hotel amenities matters more when it is treated as part of the overall guest experience<\/strong>, and not just as one more hotel purchase.<\/p>\n

From the experience to the review<\/h2>\n

After check-out, many of these impressions end up on review platforms.<\/p>\n

And there, detail matters. Tripadvisor research found that 40% of travelers consider the content of a detailed review more important than other forms of feedback<\/strong>, while 68% said they are more likely to book after reading a detailed review<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This explains why reviews often go beyond a general “nice room” or “lovely hotel”. Guests describe the specific things that left a positive or negative impression.<\/p>\n

And it is exactly these details that help the next traveler form a fuller picture of their own potential stay.<\/p>\n

The experience is built before the review is written<\/h2>\n

Good reviews are not created at the moment we ask a guest to rate the hotel. They are built during the stay.<\/strong><\/p>\n

From the first impression of the room to the bathroom, the toiletries, the slippers and the small items a guest might need, every choice contributes to the final impression.<\/p>\n

For the hotelier, this means that investing in the guest experience<\/strong> is not only about major amenities. It is also about the consistency with which every moment of the stay has been designed.<\/p>\n
